Why We Ask for Your VIN Number (and How to Find It)

Every parts enquiry we get asks for a VIN or chassis number, and understandably, a lot of people aren't sure why โ€” or where to even look for it. Here's the short version: it's the single fastest way for us to get you the exact right part on the first try, instead of guessing based on the model name alone.

What a VIN Actually Is

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is a unique 17-character code assigned to your specific car. It encodes the manufacturer, model, trim level, engine type, factory, and model year โ€” essentially a fingerprint for that exact vehicle configuration.

The reason this matters for spare parts: two cars with the exact same model name can still need different parts. A "Toyota Corolla 2020" might exist in several trims, with different engines, or with a mid-year running change to a component โ€” the model name alone doesn't capture that. The VIN does.

Where to Find Your VIN in the UAE

  1. Your Mulkiya (registration card). The chassis/VIN number is printed on it โ€” this is usually the quickest place to check.
  2. Dashboard, driver's side. Look through the base of the windscreen on the driver's side โ€” most cars have the VIN stamped on a small plate visible from outside the car.
  3. Driver's door jamb. Open the driver's door and check the sticker on the frame where the door latches โ€” many manufacturers place it here alongside tire pressure info.
  4. Insurance documents. Your motor insurance policy will usually have the chassis number listed alongside your registration details.
Quickest Option

If your Mulkiya is in your glovebox or wallet, that's usually the fastest place to grab the number from โ€” no need to go outside and check the car itself.

Why It Speeds Up Your Order

When you give us the VIN, we can look up your vehicle's exact factory specification instead of relying on the general model and year. That means:

No VIN Handy? That's Fine Too

The VIN field on our enquiry form is optional for exactly this reason. If you don't have it in front of you, just give us the make, model, year, and engine size if you know it โ€” our team can still work with that and will only ask for the VIN if we need to confirm an exact match for a part that varies by trim.

Common Questions

VIN Numbers โ€” FAQ

What is a VIN number? โ–ผ
A VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number, is a unique 17-character code assigned to every vehicle, identifying its exact manufacturer, model, trim, engine, and factory build specifications.
Where can I find my car's VIN in the UAE? โ–ผ
You can find the VIN on the Mulkiya (vehicle registration card), stamped on the dashboard visible through the windscreen on the driver's side, on a sticker inside the driver's door jamb, or on your insurance policy documents.
Can I still order parts without a VIN? โ–ผ
Yes. If you don't have your VIN handy, we can still process your order using your car's make, model, year, and engine details, though the VIN gives the most precise match, especially for models with multiple trims or mid-year changes.
Is a VIN the same as a chassis number? โ–ผ
In everyday use in the UAE, chassis number and VIN are generally used to mean the same thing, though technically the VIN is the standardized 17-character version of the vehicle's identifying number.
